On August 2, 2008, the National Board of Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. mandated that each chapter/charter of the sorority must fulfill the requirement of registering sisters to vote as well as to hold an event tailored to focus on promoting APIA Vote! Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority has also agreed to financially contribute to supporting the cause of NAPA and more specifically, the NAPA Dream Team in our goal to reach 10,000 registered voters by October!

This past weekend, hundreds and thousands listened as the 5% Campaign was shouted out live by HOT 99.5's infamous DJ 2 Face Ya Wild Boy!

Interesting report that we found that kind of puts into light what we are trying to do. According to the report, which is based on 2006 U.S. census figures, Asian Americans make up nearly 5 percent of the U.S. population.

"Although Asian Americans are only 5 percent of the population in the U.S., Asian Americans have links to more than 60 percent of the world's population through our ethnicity, culture and roots," Mong said. "It is vital that we play our role and exercise our civic duty as Americans to become informed voters."

Hitting the ground running

Our goal is to reach 10,000 new registrations by October 7th, 2008, the deadline for submitting voter registration forms. It's a big task with a lot that needs to be done. With our first official team meeting today, we will place in view our goals, dig our heels in and prepare to jump start our plans at light speed. Coordinating with respective national boards of our Greek organizations, local community organizations and our campus groups, we're confident that we will accomplish the task at hand.
